We reflect, in this season of Advent, on the coming of our Lord Jesus, first, at that time in history, when he became a man, like us, born of Mary, in that poor stable; his coming this Christmas, at a time when our world is really weary and dreary; his coming into our lives daily, if we are watchful and ready during his visits; and finally his coming in the last days.

          How are we preparing for his coming? At Christmas, our preparation is overshadowed by materialism and commercialism. At his daily coming, we are preoccupied by the daily concerns and often, we miss his visitation. At his final coming, will we be able to say, “I am ready, Lord!”

           May this season of Advent make us ready by preparing our hearts where he can be born again; our homes where he can find a warm and happy place to stay, and our souls so that we can stay with him forever in his kingdom.

           Let us be prepared then!
