Annual Retreat 2009

Annual Retreat 2009 for almost all of the Sisters in the Philippine Province had been a unique and special experience. There were four retreat groups spread out through April and the first week of May. The first group were the Junior Sisters which they made at the Sacred Heart Novitiate of the Society of Jesus in Novaliches. The Points for prayer and contemplation were given by Fr. Ramon Ma. Bautisa, S.J., Novice Master of the Jesuits; and was facilitated by our very own Srs. Fe Linterna and Rosa Ortega. The Junior Sisters had a deep experience of Christ in this retreat.
Meanwhile, the group of the elderly Sisters made their own retreat which was headed by Sr. Fe Linterna and facilitated by Srs. Florencia Constantino, Lina Cornelio, Mary Piamonte and Ma. Bema Solis which was held this time at Manresa Retreat House, Quezon City last April 5 – 12, 2009.
Sr. Pilar Martinez, our former Superior General, arrived in the Philippines last April 12, 2009. She was invited by the Philippine Province to be the Retreat Directress for the last two remaining groups of retreatants. The first batch under her guidance was held on April 15 – 22, 2009, and the second was on April 26 – May 3, 2009. All the retreats were held at Manresa Retreat House. She was assisted by a group of facilitators namely: Srs. Fe Linterna, Florencia Constantino, Lina Cornelio, Rosa Ortega and Ma. Bema Solis. All in all, it was a very deep experience of the love of God for all of us.
God has lavished the Province with so much blessings and gifts as a Body this year particularly for the many occasions and opportunities for growth and progress in our life as Hijas de Jesus… the recent visits of Mother General with Sr. Jocelyn Salomo; the assemblies, experiences and reflections of the Church’s Liturgical celebration of the Seasons of Lent and Easter, and this time, the Annual Retreat, which we all have gone through together, making us all grateful, joyful and hopeful.
We echo in our hearts what the Psalmist says… “Give thanks to the Lord of Lords, for his love endures forever.”
