BURNING WITH FIRE THIS 2011 The FI Regional Encounter (FIRE) of the Philippine Province for 2011 was in three groups with the following dates & venues:
Sr. Georgita Hormillosa first began with the objective of the FIRE -- “Moving On according to the Priority of the Province.” She then presented the priority of the Province: “To continue being responsible for our own formation in our way of living obedience-government (cf. 16th GC Determination no. 16)” with focus on the following aspects: (1) Sustaining communities of discernment (2) Actualizing the on-going formation programs (3) Greater involvement in the social apostolate from the Word of God (4) Enhancing FI – Lay collaboration. In order to work on the specific focus, Provincial Teams were created & she reported on what the teams have done so far & appealed for support on the part of the Sisters & the communities. Her second presentation was on “Setting the Trajectory of Religious Life from the Perspective of a Community In Mission.” She traced the evolution of religious life from the early Christian communities to the present & the pivotal crises periods, the difficulties, challenges & lessons. The Sisters were then divided into small groups & given questions to reflect upon & share. Her third presentation was on the desire of the members of the Church hierarchy to renew themselves through the “The Pact of the Catacombs: A Poor Servant Church.” Again, the Sisters were given questions to reflect upon & share in small groups. Her final presentation was on the current situation of the Philippine Province, in particular, the ages of the Sisters. She then gave two reflection questions to the Sisters as part of the matter for reflection, study, prayer & discussion during her canonical visits to the different FI communities. All the Sisters who participated in the encounters are very grateful to Sr. Georgette for the great effort she has & is taking to renew the living of our lives as Hijas de Jesús today. It is hoped that the fruits of these encounters will continue to be savored & lived out daily in our communities in mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIRE IN CEBU The FI Regional Encounter (FIRE) in Cebu last 29 May 2011 was cozy as there were only nine sisters participating - eight from Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesús (Cebu City) and one from Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción (Pototan, Iloilo). Discussions were animated. Sometimes we Sisters paused, at a loss for words, as we came face to face with the reality - both painful and hope-giving while at the same time seeing what this will mean for the future. We see the FIRE as a great blessing...when we pause to take a look at ourselves, where we are going, how we have to re-align, and come to terms with the fact that we cannot control events as they unfold, but have to pave the way for future generations, if the vitality and well-being of our Congregation is what we take to heart.
