a GIFT to the Blessed Mother...

Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, Iloilo City

What best birthday gifts could we offer to the GREAT WOMAN who mediated God’s love to all of us? Confronted by different scenarios of violence all over the world CHJ decided to conduct an activity for peace as a birthday gift to the Blessed Mother. As a big family in school, the students, teachers, parents, maintenance staff and security guards came early this morning, September 8, to join the DAWN ROSARY FOR PEACE. The activity which started at 5:30 in the morning was sponsored by the FI Youth group and the CHJ Dormers. Candles for peace were lighted. Doves of peace were also released.

At 7:30 in the morning, the whole educative community gathered together for a Eucharistic celebration which was officiated by Msgr. Jose Marie Delgado.

He emphasized the role of the Blessed Mother in the history of Salvation and on how she mediated the Emmanuel into our world. He further challenged us as a big community to make Jesus ever present in our hearts…making our hearts the tabernacle of Christ in the world today.

At post communion time nine (9) Lay Missionary Volunteers renewed their commitment to Christ as volunteers on mission for another year as their birthday gift to Mama Mary. As a simple way of expressing their love and devotion to Mama Mary, students offered flowers and songs to her.
