CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
Living the Christmas Spirit as a Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesús Educative Family
Ms. Leodissa Pugoy
“The more we are generous with God, the more He is generous with us.”
– Blessed Cándida María de Jesús
Our Mother Foundress, Cándida María de Jesús encouraged all her children to be extra generous with their resources especially to all those who are in need of help and support. She lived and loved poverty above all: “Where there is no room for my poor, neither is there room for me.”

To be in solidarity with the poor is to live a life that always takes into account the needy. This demands going beyond sharing our resources & feeling distress over the situations of the poor. We make an effort to be one with them by being perceptive of their needs, living simply, using our resources properly & by taking concrete actions that help alleviate poverty.
It is in this regard that the Sacred Heart School – Hijas de Jesús family traditionally makes the Christmas a season of true love & sharing through the Christmas Fund Drive & other projects to make the Christmas spirit more visible & meaningful.
As a Christian community of believers, we indeed have the opportunity to grow in the love of God & show this love by acquiring the values of Jesus Christ, especially His love for the poor in our midst through the following activities:
Alay Kapatid II – This was celebrated by the educative community on Thursday, December 11, 2008. The activity started with a film viewing on the real meaning of Christmas. There was an interaction between the pupils/teachers of Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesús & Camputhaw Elementary School. Pails of joy were distributed to our visitors. The activity did not speak on the value of the material gifts being shared but on the act of generosity & affinity that radiated in the face of each person.

Noche Buena Family Pack – The SC officers & volunteer high school students together with some teachers and administrators visited the Badjaos on Saturday, December 20, 2008 & the families in Inayawan dumpsite on Monday, December 22, 2008. Noche Buena packs were shared to the families. The packed goods enabled the families to have a simple yet decent Noche Buena celebration. Beyond material gifts was the sharing of fraternal love through an interaction.

The Badjaos and FIs
It is with deep reflection that we recognize JESUS as the real reason for this season. May we continue to live & share the spirit of Filiation-Fraternity by being thankful for God’s unconditional love & returning this love through acts of generous service & expressions of genuine esteem for everyone.
A prayerful Christmas & grace-filled New Year to everyone!
