NEWS UPDATE from HIJAS DE JESUS SCHOOL, Estancia, Iloilo - DECEMBER, 2009



*   HIJAS DE JESUS SCHOOL FACULTY & STAFF ' RETREAT 2009

     The twenty-two Faculty & Staff of Hijas de Jesus School had their 3-days Close Retreat last November 30 - December 2, 2009 in Mensa Domini Retreat House in Pavia, Iloilo. Their retreat-master was Rev. Fr. Simon "Nene" Sinoy who led them to a very profound encounter with our Lord in prayer and reflections. They were so grateful for this wonderful spiritual experience. They looked forward to a follow-up of their spiritual formation in this aspect


*     CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

      The pupils and students together with the Sisters, Faculty and Staff of Hijas de Jesus School had their Triduum of Prayers and expressions of their love and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary last December 4,5 and 7, 2009. There was the procession around the school campus on the morning of Dember 7, 2009 followed by the singing of 'MIL ALBRICIAS', praying of the Angelus, offering of flowers and noise barrage to rejoice for the proclamation of Mama Mary's Feast of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.




*       CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION IN HIJAS DE JESUS SCHOOL

     December 10-15, 2009 there was the film-showing of "The Nativity Story" to the pupils and students of Hijas de Jesus School by class in order to be deepened on the evangelical significance of Christmas in their lives.  December 18, 2009 at 8 A.M. the Christmas Tableau was presented by selected students and pupils followed by offering of gifts to the Baby Jesus in the form of canned goods and other nice things which will be given to the poor. Christmas party by class followed. At lunchtime, the Hijas de Jesus School Faculty & Staff together with the Sisters and lay collaborators had their own Christmas Party.

 



*        CHRISTMAS REACH-OUT ACTIVITY FOR THE POOR IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

     December 19, 2009 at 8 A.M. there were fifty-nine poor children who came to Hijas de Jesus School for the culminating activity of CATECHESIS to the public school children. Sr. Nilda Paloma, F.I. and the Sisters welcomed them to the Christmas party.The children had the Christmas Tableau presentation and the offering to Baby Jesus of their prepared songs for Him. Parlor games taken charge by Sr. Erna Biyo, F.I.followed wherein everybody enjoyed and participated. A special merienda consisting of cakes and goodies given by the HJS students and pupils was served to them. Gifts of school supplies, toys, biscuits, candies and other things were given to them as the last special number.

 



     In the afternoon of the same day the twenty-seven members of the Mother Candida Mothers' Club who are poor mothers in the neighborhood were also given Christmas Party. First number is the Film-showing of the Nativity Story in the AVR of the school wherein the mothers had the meditative viewing of the Christmas story and a short sharing of their reflections followed. They had the program, exchange of gifts and the giving of awards: Best Catechist and Attendance. The Sisters served them pancit, ice cream, barquillos and bread and after; gifts of rice, sardines, noodles, candies a pair of shoes and other goodies were given to them. They are very grateful for all these nice things given to them, so happy to know that the Sisters the pupis and students, Faculty and other benefactors are concerned for them.
