Canonical Visit to the City of Love, Iloilo City

          From Estancia, Mother General and Sr. Jocelyn arrived in Iloilo City, to the community of Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus on February 21, 2009.  The next day, Sr. Ma. Inez met the sisters individually and as community and gave very substantial sharing on the importance of human mediation, Obedience and community life.

The Community Encounter

          In the morning of February 23, the whole educative community of Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus gathered at the new Gymnasium to greet Mother General, together with Sr. Jocelyn. The principal, Miss Leah Cababasay explained to the assembly the purpose of the visit. Welcome speeches from the different sectors followed immediatey. Noteworthy was the singing of Clara Estrella by three selected pupils while Mother General and the rest gladly watched and listened attentively.

          After this, Sr. Emelinda Falsis, School Directress, accompanied the two Sisters to visit the school campus. Mother General was visibly pleased to see the great improvement in the school. She also encouraged that while the school facilities had been maintained well, she also encouraged the Sisters to maintain especially the charism of Mother Candida.

 

 

          Meanwhile, Sr. Jocelyn also had a chance to meet with the members of the Kasambahay ni Candida” and the Lay Missionary volunteers.

          The visit culminated with a liturgical service, thanking God for the grace the community received through this visit of Mother General with Sr. Jocelyn.

February 24 -25, 2009

VISIT OF MOTHER GENERAL . MA. INEZ FURTADO WITH SR. JOCELYN SALOMO TO GUIMARAS

          The visit of Mother General, accompanied by Sr. Jocelyn Salomo was something that the sisters and the whole St. Joseph School educative community look forward to.

 

          Srs. Ma. Inez and Jocelyn were warmly welcomed by the SJS community. They were given corsage bearing the identity of the island and bouquet of flowers especially presented by the pre-schoolers who immediately posed with them for picture taking. As they went around, the students greeted them proudly in their newly learned Spanish words: “Buenos dias!; Hola! and Adios! Her presence strengthened our bond of union as a body Congregation and at the same time made each Sister feel good after having a dialogue with her.

          The encounter with her and Sr. Jocelyn enriched the community and brought about a lot of enlightenment about our life as Hijas de Jesus.

          A relaxing afternoon, seeing places and contemplating God’s greatness along the shore ended the visit of Mother General and Sr. Jocelyn’s visit to our community.
