A DIVINE EXPERIENCE
Mary Ann C. Flores- Nazareth School

There is something in December that emboldens people to be humane, tender-hearted, compassionate and forgiving towards their families, friends and even strangers at times we tend to ask ourselves why people cannot sustain these feelings even after December and hold onto them the whole year round. In doing so, they may get accustomed to do such and make each day seem like Christmas.

One of the most memorable and meaningful experience I had during one of this year’s outreach activities was our visit at Manresa’s Tahanan Candida Maria de Jesus. I am so thankful for having been part of this activity which was spearheaded by parents who were all raised and molded by Nazareth School. Yes, students then, and parents now, who would never entrust their children to anyone else but their Alma Mater.

All of us went to Tahanan determined to impart all the love we could give, express joy by entertaining our beloved and lovable sisters with songs and dances, and engage them in games which they used to play before. Not to forget the simple but sumptuous merienda specially prepared for them.

Everything did not just go well but superbly excellent. We may have been sincerely determined to show the sisters how much we cared and loved them but what all of us gave can never equal the joy and fulfillment the three-hour visit has imprinted in our hearts. Indeed we can never exchange this “Divine” experience for we realized that we are persons for others and we can never deviate from our nature, that is, to love.
