SHOTOKU VISIT TO SOME CENTERS IN THE PHILIPPINES (Please Scroll Down to see other centers visited by SHOTOKU group)

Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus

A FRATERNAL VISIT FROM THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN

Like the wise men from the orient who came to gift Jesus with gold, frankincense and myrrh, came the visitors from Shotoku High School to bring good tidings of friendship. Bl. Candida's, " the world is too small for my desires", had its recent realization at CHJ with the gracious presence of Shotoku goodwill group of Matsue, Japan in the person of Sr. Rosario Remigio,F.I. and 21 students.  Japan and the Philippines are  two countries different in many aspects but possess one rich legacy of a missionary spirit to go to any part  and in all parts of the world in search of souls. Thanks to our beloved Bl. Candida Maria de Jesus. We are witnesses as well as participants - Japan and the Philippines - of this reality.

Sharing the same charism as F.I. schools, Shotoku and CHJ vibrate and echo friendliness and simplicity and above all, the fraternity that transcends differences and barriers of race, color, religion, gender, and economic standing.

The Filipino hospitality, coupled with the warmth and sweet disposition of the Ilonggos, brightened the first encounter and broke the ice of shyness and timidity of the honored visitors, majority of whom  could not speak fluent English. However, smiles, well-meaning gestures and respectful bowing of the head spoke a lot more than uttered words. On the other hand the excitement of the CHJ community to warmly welcome, get-to-know them even for such brief moment of time, and to express the FI Philippine hospitality was overflowing and surely left an indelible mark in the  hearts and minds of the Shotoku group.  With the little Japanese words from an unknown source, being the co-emcee, smile and more expectations were etched in the faces of the visitors.

The question and answer portion, intermission number, fun and games were all enjoyed with gusto. With the sincere expression of gratitude from two representatives, the occasion did not end.  In the real sense of the word, we have just started a relationship which has been brought about by the FI spirit of fraternity which, hopefully, will continue and bear fruit in due time.

It is our greatest hope and desire that we, the FI students, will traverse the world of differences and build a new world where we are really brothers and sisters. We can make these real especially at this point in time that wars, enmity, and death are looming.  May our Blessed Foundress make possible the realization of brotherhood, even though how small, as what we just had.  This is  another legacy of Bl. Candida, "with God, everything is possible."
