ST. JAMES CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL , Maasin, Iloilo
CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF BLESSED CANDIDA MA. DE JESUS
The highlight of the Feast of Mo. Foundress was the Eucharistic celebration which took place at 7:30 in the morning at the parish Church of St. James the Greater with Rev. Fr. John Taclain, parish priest as the celebrant. The students, faculty and staff, officers of the Parents Teachers Association, alumni and benefactors participated in this grand celebration. The floral offering to Mo. Foundress before the final blessing was very touching because the love and devotion of the people to Mo. Foundress was strongly manifested.
After the Mass the PTA officers had their Induction in the presence of Rev. Fr. John Taclain. Then a simple “merienda” was offered by the school to all the students which gave them real joy and contentment. The newly inducted PTA officers also offered heavy snacks to the Sisters, faculty and staff, and alumni which made the celebration more enjoyable and meaningful. The climate of fraternal and filial relationship was strongly experienced during the sharing of a simple meal at lunch time with the faculty and staff, some PTA. Officers and the alumni of Batch’84.
The love and concern of Mo. Foundress for the poor was concretely actualized by the alumni of Batch ’84 through the free medical service that they rendered to the poor parents and children on that day.
More than 200 people came to avail themselves of the free medical check-up and medicines. To actualize the real attention of Mo. Foundress to the poor, a simple snacks was also offered by the school to all those who came for the medical mission.
Part of the activities of the day were the conferences that Sr. Florencia Constantino gave to the PTA officers, faculty and staff and the alumni of Batch ’84. The topic of her talk was the “:Passion of Mo. Foundress for the Poor. ” Since majority of the people of Massin literally live in poverty, the impact of the talk to them was great. The life of Mo. Foundress had given them great hope and inspired them to be more committed in favor of the poor. Without doubt Mo. Foundress was delighted to see how her Feast Day was celebrated in this particular reality.
